Nationality: Japanese
Lifespan: (c. 770 AD ~ )
The Myochin family started making yoroi-kabuto (war helmets and armor) for Samurai (warriors) more than one thousand years ago and its yoroi-kabuto were valued highly as rarities akin to prized jewelry because of the clear sound they made when struck by swords and spears and because of their bright sheen.
The Myochin family, which was in the service of the feudal Lord Sakai Utanokami Tadakiyo, moved to Himeji from Gumma with his master, Lord Sakai, who became ruler of the Himeji area.
The business has been handed down in an unbroken line of descendants and the 51st direct descendant of the Founder, Myochin Muneyuki introduced some of the world's clearest sounding chimes in the 1960's.
