Faden, William

Lifespan: (1750 ~ 1836)
English engraver and cartographer, grew up in the London printing world, apprenticed with James Wigley, then went to work for Thomas Jeffrey's company. Here he distinguished himself and eventually took over the business (Jeffreys had died). In 1783, he became Geographer to King George III as Jeffreys had been before him.
With access to the latest survey data, the ability to be more accurate and timely flowed through to his work, setting him above his competitors.
By 1822, his company catalog listed over 300 works, including atlases and charts.

Lack of or handwritten table of contents in atlases
A willingness to collaborate whilst creating atlases, utilizing others maps to meet clients particular needs
